Dr. Angela Kowitz Orobko

Champion of the Tenderhearted
I am an educator and writer, raised in Poquoson, Virginia. The City of Poquoson is a beautiful, bedroom community with all the charm of a waterman's town. Everyone knows everyone here or at least has heard about you or knows someone who does.
I have been in education my whole adult life including 15 years of experience with Hampton City Schools and Poquoson City Schools. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Christopher Newport University.
Further educational achievements include an Education Specialist degree and a Doctorate degree from the George Washington University in the field of Education Administration and Policy Studies. In my specialized study, I examined anti-bullying policies, programs, strategies and practices. The study included an extensive literature review of the most current studies on bullying and cyber-bullying.
I led a workshop entitled, Overcoming Bullying: Empowering Yourself and Others in Poquoson on October 24, 2011 Here is a sample of participant feedback:
"The workshop was very informative. Dr. Orobko gave excellent examples for ways to stop bullying."
"Dr. Orobko made me aware of ways I can empower myself and others...Excellent presentation!!"
"The workshop met my expectations; the explanations were very good!"
"The workshop was interesting. I feel empowered!"
I believe that everyone deserves to learn and work in a positive environment where kindness, respectfulness and cooperation are commonplace.
I am an active member of my community. I enjoy teaching, writing, drawing and painting, acting, singing, and leaning new things.
